Frattallone’s Hardware Stores Inc. plans to open in Miracle Mile Shopping Center in St. Louis Park next month, taking over a space that has been home to one hardware store or another for 60 years.
Larry Frattallone, CEO of the Arden Hills-based chain that opened its first location in 1975, said this will be the company’s 18th store and it is looking for more expansion opportunities.
Frattallone said the company has been negotiating to move into the 12,000-square-foot Miracle Mile spot since November. The company signed a 25-year lease, he said.
“This was a no-brainer,” Frattallone said. “It’s a great location with great demographics. We’re really anxious to get in there.”
Frattallone said he had tried more than once to take over that location during the last couple of decades.
The spot was left vacant when Jerry’s Hardware & Rental closed Dec. 5 after failing to come to lease terms with the shopping center. It moved to a location at the intersection of Cedar Lake Road and Louisiana Avenue, opening in February.
Miracle Mile, which is at the corner of Highway 100 and Excelsior Boulevard, has had a hardware store since it opened in 1951.
Frattallone’s has been expanding recently, opening a 21,000-square-foot location in Burnsville in February and nearly doubling the size of its Woodbury store the same month, Frattallone said. The Woodbury location is now about 14,000 square feet. (Source: Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal)
