Henri Bendel and Others Coming to Mall of America

Henri Bendel, the legendary New York fashion retailer, will open an accessories store at Mall of America, MOA spokeswoman Bridget Jewell said on Tuesday. Bendels has downsized since its glory days–eliminating apparel to focus on handbags, jewelry, beauty and gifts. The brand still has a luxury cache–and high end labels–that adds punch to MOA’s south corridor, down the lane from Burberry and Hugo Boss. Bendels will take the former Nine West space (yep, Nine West up and closed its stand alone store a few months ago.)

In other MOA news…Carhartt, the working man brand, which is enjoying a rebirth as a cool U.S. heritage line, a la Red Wing Shoe Co., will open a pop up at the mall from August to February, and is likely to stay on longer. Lincoln Road Travelware will also open in the coming months, featuring high-end luggage.

Meanwhile, previously announced newcomers Dr. Martens will open this Thursday, May 17. Cotton On is also expected to open this week. And check out stationery/gift store Typo, now open first floor, north side.

Of course, the announcement shoppers are waiting for–what will take Bloomingdale’s place–is still to come. Part of the reason it’s taking so long is the mall wants to release the names of all the players at once, and getting all the deals signed and sealed is a painfully slow process. So expect a mega announcement…soon. (Source: Mpls + St. Paul Magazine – Ali Shops)
