Stillwater will get a little sweeter this summer when Candyland, the popular candy store with locations in St. Paul and Minneapolis, opens a shop on North Main Street.
The store, which will be located at 212 N. Main St., is expected to open in late June or early July, said Brenda Lamb, co-owner. It will be Candyland’s fourth location.
“We’re pretty much an old-fashioned business, and we like to stay in that kind of environment,” Brenda Lamb said. “Stillwater is a great fit.”
Brenda Lamb and her husband, Doug, who live in Bayport, bought the building that formerly housed Instudio photo. “What’s really exciting for us is owning and operating our own building,” Lamb said. “It’s nice to finally to be in control…and to be part of such a historical town.”
The building comes with seven parking spaces, Lamb said, which will “very much be a plus for our customers.”
The move to Stillwater marks Candyland’s first new foray since 1992, when the business opened a branch in the Mall of America; that location closed in 2003. The Lambs’ son, Brandon, who is 25, will run the Stillwater location. He also lives in Bayport. (Source: Pioneer Press)
