Blockbuster video rental stores in Woodbury, Cottage Grove and Hudson, Wis., are closing permanently, probably later this month. The stores have stopped renting movies but are open to sell remaining merchandise.
Corporate representatives didn’t return email or phone messages Tuesday, but employees of the stores confirmed details of the closings. Store hours have been shortened and vary from store to store. The Blockbuster chain declared bankruptcy in 2010, a victim of competition from Netflix and movie rental kiosks such as Redbox. (Source: Pioneer Press)
